grey's nursery

Yes, I do still have this blog! I have so many things I want to write about (including Grey's birth story), but it's so hard to find time to do it all! I'll start with his nursery and let the photos do most of the talking!

I love how his room turned out. It's so bright and clean...and was pretty cheap too! Most of the items in the room were either made by me, refurbished, or were things we already had. The room was already painted white because it used to be my office so that was one less thing to check off our to do list!

I painted the two items on the left and made the yarn wall hanging.

These shelves were already hanging in my office. They were filled with books, but we took the majority of them down. I still have a few other items I want to add to them, but still haven't yet!

This was a family globe that I've had and I added the lettering. Originally, I had planned to use this in Crew's room when he was born, but we ran out of space!

The mobile is actually something I didn't make! It was from Nifty Neat on Etsy. The shop owner is so friendly and helpful! Be sure to check them out!

Blue cart from Ikea

Pillow was on clearance at Target and chair was from Amazon | Black blackout curtains from Amazon

Crib is from Ikea and I made the green tassels. Inspired from here

I painted the lettered statement wall inspired from A Beautiful Mess
"i love you in the morning and in the afternoon. i love you in the evening and underneath the moon."

The blue dresser was purchased from Craigslist for around $60, I believe. I painted it blue and polished the brass hardware. It's one of my favorite things in the room!

Changing pad cover from KB Cute on Etsy

The door hanger was made by my brother, Cody, his fiance, Brittney, and my mom for our hospital stay!

Faux sheepskin rug from Amazon

The card catalog was something we already had in my office. There was no way I was getting rid of it! It was from the library at the church where my parents grew up and were married. I love it!

There are still two things I've painted that we haven't hung on the wall yet. One day! There's also a piece on the wall next to the closet from friends and it reads "The best thing about me is you." Love it!

crew's newborn photos | 1

I just realized that I never posted Crew's newborn photos. Kelly came over when he was 8 days old and took these. She was so patient with us. I never realized how long it would take for these photos. Crew and I and Will were all still getting used to each other and adjusting to our new life. We had to stop to eat a few times. Crew even had a couple (hilarious) accidents when we were trying the infamous naked baby photos. We are so lucky to have had Kelly there who is a great friend, but also incredibly patient!

Weekend Recap - Nursery Painting

This recap will be short and sweet as I just wanted to say that we painted the nursery! Woo hoo! I am so excited and feel like things are finally starting to come together. Hopefully it's smooth sailing from here!

Remi was so embarrassed last week when I tried to use him in a swaddle demonstration for Will

31 weeks! I really think I grew overnight! I also see a little belly button poking out too.

Hope everyone has a great week! I am trying my best to make it to the end of the week with more blog posts than just my weekend recap and bumpdate. Will and I both have lots of post ideas floating around in our heads, but getting the nursery together has been taking top priority lately!
SO looking forward to our first baby shower this weekend too!

Weekend Recap - making progress

We had such a great weekend. I feel like it was our first "normal" weekend in a long time because of Will's recent world traveling!

I had two Craigslist jackpots this weekend. I picked up these two chairs for $10. Yes, they need a lot of work, but they were too unique/retro/awesome to pass up. A little elbow grease and spray paint and they'll be good as new!

Our second Craigslist find was on a dresser for Crew's nursery! Yay! I am so, so excited about finally finding a major piece of furniture for him. If you remember what I've said before, the crib is the only item that we're buying "new" (& probably the glider too). Everything else will be refurbished furniture. The dressers that I had been seeing on CL in the style I was wanting were ranging anywhere from $200-$400 and we scooped this one up for $70! Woohoo! I am so excited to be making progress on the nursery. Now I'm giving myself to Wednesday to make the final decision on the paint color. I'll post a pic of the dresser soon!

My most recent craving (besides anything sweet) has been purple cows. Have you ever had one or even heard of them? I'm not sure if this is just a southern thing or not. It's just like a coke float but with grape soda. Will had never had one and hated it at first, but since he's been sneaking bites each night I have one I think it's growing on him. He said I'm brainwashing him.

This is what I woke up to on Saturday morning. Sheesh.

My dad came over to do a little more work on our new closet Saturday morning. It's making progress and almost done!! He and Will also had to replace a bunch of rusted out pipes under our house that day. Our kitchen drain got majorly clogged last week (thanks to me) which led to Dad finding leaky and rusted cast iron pipes under our old house that needed to be replaced anyway....at least that's what I'm telling myself. Oops. Note to self: next time just throw away the pork tenderloin instead of throwing it down the disposal. Thanks, Dad!

After church on Sunday we came home and rested for a few hours. I slept terribly on Saturday night (which actually led to me organizing Crew's closet at 2am) and was so tired. Later that afternoon we went over to a friend's house to go through some boys baby clothes she was getting rid of. She has 3 boys so there were plenty of clothes to go through and I am so excited!
Our loot

Remi must think he's a parrot perched on my shoulder or something? Either that or he's just run out of room sitting on my lap.

Last night we went to Tyler & Amanda's for a delicious dinner. BBQ pork, grilled corn on the cob, mac 'n cheese, rolls....is your mouth watering yet? This was all followed by a homemade fudge pie (YUM!) and another dessert called sweet crust (I think that's the name...). I had never heard of it, but it was full of blueberries and so delicious. I can't wait to get that recipe from Amanda and try it out! All of the dessert of course was accompanied by some vanilla ice cream. It was heaven for my sweet tooth, pregnant self.

Sweet (and usually shy) Bentley finally warmed up to us and cuddled up to me and Crew for a few minutes.

My car is in the shop so we borrowed Will's dad's Jeep this weekend...his lifted Jeep that I've needed a lot of assistance getting in and out of too. Will was dying to put the top down last night because it felt so great out and he snapped this pic of my very wind-blown hair on the way home. Needless to say, getting a brush through that tangled mess was not an easy task.

Weekend Recap - Father's Day

We had a pretty nice, relaxing weekend. We met up with Tyler and Amanda Friday night for some Jerry's Sno Cones. Yum!

On Saturday, Will worked all morning so that meant I got to sleep in...which was needed and appreciated! That afternoon we went to Lowe's to get paint samples for the baby nursery and I can't wait to see how they look on the wall! I'm still having so much trouble deciding what fabrics I want to use for the crib/curtains, but maybe seeing the paint on the wall will help.

Saturday night we went to my parents' for a Father's Day dinner. It was nice spending time with the fam!

I am so thankful for my Daddy-O and how impactful he has been on my life! Crew told me he can't wait to meet his Poppy!
Sunday morning we went to church. The entire time we were standing up singing, Crew was kicking away. I think he loved the music. I got a little emotional thinking about our baby boy. My main hope and prayer for him is that he grows up loving the Lord and accepting Christ as his Savior one day. I couldn't help but get teary-eyed just thinking about it!

After church Will and I went to lunch and stopped by an estate sale on the way home. I'm on the hunt for unique/vintage things for the nursery. I ended up getting a vintage decorative pillow for $1 that I think might end up in Crew's room. Will got a vintage gas can for $5 that he was pretty excited about.

Yesterday afternoon Will started priming the nursery. Our spare bedroom was a bright fire engine red previously. I lived in this house all throughout college and this was the color my first roommate painted it. It took 8 coats of paint to get that red on the wall so I never wanted to change it until we were ready to paint for a baby. I knew it'd be hard to cover up the red. Will got one coat of primer on the walls, but it's going to need a second one!
Remi, Ginger and I were hanging out keeping Will company while he painted, but the fumes were getting too strong so we had to go to another room. Whew!

Bye bye red walls!

Will's audience :)
We are also trying to sell the bedroom suite on Craigslist this week which is why there's a bare mattress. We've got a lot of rearranging/organizing to do before Crew gets here. Will had been using the closet in this room for his clothes too. We emptied out the room and ended up putting so much stuff in the attic. I can't wait till the room is filled with Crew and all his baby things!

Remi, Ginger and Crew got Will some of his favorite things from Target for Father's Day along with Father's Day cards. I think he liked it all! He's going to be such a good daddy to Crew!
I took this last night while Will was in his "man cave" cleaning his gun and Remi stood watch. Love my boys!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!
